Berlinische Galerie

A beloved destination for artists, often lauded in informal surveys among the artistic community. Housed in a renovated former glass warehouse, the gallery boasts abundant natural light, pristine white walls and floors, and ingeniously crafted intersecting staircases.

Its dynamic exhibition program features recent showcases by notable figures like fashion iconoclast Nan Goldin and a retrospective honoring Berlin-born Arno Fischer. Additionally, the gallery houses a remarkable permanent collection showcasing works by Berlin artists spanning from 1870 onward.

This collection traverses tumultuous and diverse historical periods, including Expressionism, Berlin Dada, art during the Nazi era, the post-1945 renaissance, and the diverse artistic movements of the 1950s. Among the featured Berlin artists, visitors may encounter names unfamiliar prior to their visit but unforgettable thereafter, such as Max Liebermann, Raoul Hausmann, Otto Bartning, and Naum Gabo.
