A small but remarkable baptistery adorned with mosaics reflecting the theological differences of Arian Christianity. The Battistero degli Ariani, or Arian Baptistery, is one of Ravenna’s most important early Christian monuments. Located near the city’s historic center, this octagonal structure was built in the 5th century during the reign of the Ostrogothic king Theodoric the Great. It is famous for its stunning mosaics, particularly the ones that adorn the dome.

The mosaics inside the baptistery depict the baptism of Christ by John the Baptist, set against a beautiful golden background that shimmers under natural light.
