Bastion Ceglarski, Wrocław, Lower Silesia, Poland

Bastion Ceglarski – now defunct part of the fortifications of the city of Wroclaw , located in the north-eastern part of the external walls surrounding the belt Wroclaw New Town . Bastion was created in 1585 in a place where there was previously one of the bastion flanking located here Gate Ceglarska .

Bastion nowowłoskim system designed by Hansa Schneidera von Lindau , architect, builder of fortifications and several cities in Pomerania and Silesia . Was equipped with casemates (like other bastions of the Wroclaw project Schneider – Bastion Sakwowy ), later yet he received Ravelin and kawalierę .

After the liquidation of the winners at the behest of the French fortifications in the year 1807 the bastion turned into a scenic hill, which became part of the promenade; casemates were filled, and all military installations closed down. Later, in honor of the writer and actor Karl von Holteia hill called Holtei Höhe – “Holteia Hill”, and on top of a monument with a bust of the artist. After the year 1945 it was named the Polish Hill; it is in today’s arena streets pottery, Purkinje , Old Town Promenade and extending along an edge of the Oder Boulevard Xawery Dunikowskiego.
