Ballonpladsen, Fredensborg, Copenhagen Region, Denmark
Fredensborg Palace Garden is one of Denmark’s largest baroque farms and was converted in Frederik 5 in the 1760s. A distinctive element in the garden is the main axis of Brede Allé, which dates from the castle’s garden hall.
The entire plant was designed in collaboration between the French architect Nicolas-Henri Jardin and the Danish sculptor Johannes Wiedewelt, and Brede Allé then stood with double rows of all-trees, surfaces of gravel and grass in various patterns, as well as sculptures and monuments of Johannes Wiedewelt.
In 2009, the Board of Castles and Cultural Property, with the support of AP Møller and Wife Chastine Mc-Kinney Møller’s Fund for General Purposes, began the refurbishment of Broad Allé at Fredensborg Castle.
In connection with the refurbishment, the old all-trees have been replaced and the double allen has been reconstructed. At the same time, the sculptures and monuments of the island have been restored or recycled, and the parties have been restored. In addition, two distinctive gardens in the immediate vicinity, “balloon square” and “wine harvest” have been restored.
The opening ceremony takes place at Fredensborg Castle on September 17th. 15.00 with the participation of Regentparret.
