An incubator for creative expression. Home to more than 60 resident artists working across various disciplines, it provides a space for artistic development and public engagement. The exhibitions and open studio events allow visitors to explore the creative processes behind the works on display. The Bakehouse Art Complex is a non-profit arts organization that stands at the heart of South Florida’s bustling arts scene, where it has been a beacon of creativity and collaboration for nearly four decades. Our name “Bakehouse” nods to the history of our building (originally an Art Deco-era industrial bakery) where we offer the highest level of artistic creativity, development, and artistic collaboration for the most promising talent.
Our community comprises over 100 resident and associate artists with a rich diversity of cultures, languages, and artistic practices — painting, sculpture, printmaking, metal and woodworking, photography, digital/interactive media, performance art, even history.
Our programs focus on nurturing artists by supporting the creation and exhibition of new work. We organize professional and creative development programs and workshops, coordinate studio visits, support community outreach efforts, and host classes.
