The Low Congo is a province in the southwest of the Democratic Republic of the Congo , is the only province that has coasts in the sea. Its regional capital is Matadi .

In the wake of the 2005 Constitution , the Democratic Republic of the Congo was to be divided into 25 provinces within 36 months and the Lower Congo was renamed Central Congo. As of October 2010, this change was canceled
