Bab Mellah, Rue des Consuls, Rabat, Morocco
Morocco was a first stop-off for both Jews and Muslims after their ouster from Andalusian Spain. It was closest to Gibraltar and the Spanish Coast. After settling in Al Maghrib, they worked together to develop the country. The Mellah was the walled Jewish Quarter that was erected near the Palace and came under the protection of the ruler in power. This gate is the primary entrance to the Mellah in Rabat.
