Atlantik Wall Historical Site, Rotsund, Troms, Norway
The Atlantic wall runs from France to Norway. In between this line of Defense by Denmark, ran in Germany, Belgium and Netherlands. This defense is never entirely phased out consisted mostly of bunkers, minefields, cannons. Pretty much bunkers have been preserved, some in very poor state, while there are some in the original state restored and often serve as museums. These fortifications were established at strategic points, and were not as the name suggests, a contiguous wall.
Between the coastal batteries and barricades were built by mostly surveillance and defensive posts equipped with mortars, heavy machine guns, and/or air defences. The roadblocks often existed from barbed wire, dragons teeth, tank moats and minefields.
After the invasion in Normandy, they stopped the construction. At that time 10.273 bunkers were finished and 799 under construction.
