Chapada Diamantina with the long waterfall in the dramatic and spectacular scenery of the region’s canyons. With over 280 meters of rocky cliffs, the path to this waterfall is among the most difficult and rewarding of Chapada Diamantina. With 100 meters of waterfall, Fumacinha is almost a myth among trail lovers.
The trail is not for all visitors and can not be done at all times of the year. It takes a lot of physical training, ability to jump stones and a willingness to cross the 18 km trail – back and forth – from the village of Baixão. Making the Smoke underneath is much more difficult compared to the route to see it over, which has 16 km – round trip. The trail below takes an average of 4 hours per stretch. By the way the time is reduced by half. The ideal, for those who want to make the Smoke underneath, is overnight in Ibicoara and from there already leave early. Thus it is possible to make the trail in a round trip without overnight camping. It will be busy and tiring, but it will be worth every minute of effort!
