Established in 2008, the ART CRU Berlin Gallery stands as a pioneering institution, being the first and only gallery in Berlin dedicated to showcasing “outsider art.” Also known as Art Brut in French-speaking countries, this genre encompasses artworks created by intellectually or mentally challenged individuals.
Situated in the heart of Berlin’s trendy gallery district, just a stone’s throw from the renowned Jewish synagogue, this exhibition space serves as a bridge between the established art world and outsider art. The gallery’s mission is to spotlight art forms that transcend conventional norms and currents, providing a platform for artists to showcase their works. Exhibitions at the gallery feature paintings, photographs, installations, and sketches, offering an authentic glimpse into the emotions and thoughts of individuals with disabilities or mental illness. Approximately five exhibitions are hosted here each year.
