Hugh Adsett serves as Canada’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Permanent Representative to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). He assumed these roles in July 2023, succeeding Lisa Helfand.
Before his current appointment, Ambassador Adsett joined Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 1995. His diverse career includes roles such as a journalist in New Brunswick, an articling student in Ottawa, and a human rights field officer for the United Nations in Rwanda.
