The Fanar Mosque, the spiral mosque of the Kassem Darwish Fakhroo Islamic Centre, is located in downtown Doha, in the Souqs area and a stone’s throw from Corniche Street. This building was constructed following the Great Mosque of Al-Mutawwakil in Samarra of Iraq, which was damaged in 2005, and thus it is not a traditional Qatari mosque.
The spiral minaret dominating the old city is enlightened at night. If anyone watches the night view of the spiral tower, then he is sure to remember it forever. It simply dazzles. The Fanar Mosque has become one of Doha’s most famous landmarks.
