Al-Bustan Beach, Muscat, Muscat Governorate, Oman

Al Bustan Beach is only a few kilometres east of the capital, Muscat, and is best reached by car. This little fishing village with its pebble and sandy beach is hidden in a bay, though not impossible to find, and is at some distance from the large city beaches.

At about three kilometres long, the beach is delightfully suitable for escaping from the bustle of the capital city and recovering undisturbed: it has few visitors because most of it belongs to the adjacent Ritz-Carlton Hotel. This part is reserved exclusively for guests, as is made clear by the signs. A bit of interesting background information is that every year Sultan Qabus ibn Said books the top floor of the Ritz Carlton Hotel for himself. So if you have a room at the Ritz, with a bit of luck you might see the Sultan in person.
