Aeropuerto Internacional Nursultan Nazarbayev, Astaná, Kazajistán

The Astana International Airport is located about fifteen kilometers south of the capital of Kazakhstan, and is considered the second busiest in the country after the Almaty International Airport.

Originally used as a regional base by Aeroflot, it is currently the hub of Air Astana, the national airline.

After President Nursultan Nazarbayev decided to move the capital of the country from Almaty to Astana, the airport had to be renovated, and a new international terminal designed by the Japanese Kisho Kurokawa was inaugurated in 2005.
