Al Qurain Martyrs Museum

Artifacts at the original site of a storied Gulf War battle, including a bombed building & vehicles. A beautiful place a must visit if your visiting the country and want to know about the darkest days in Kuwait those brave men who lost their lives fighting for freedom against Saddam Hussein forces.

Al-Qurain Martyrs Museum – The museum commemorates the bloodshed of 24th February 1991 between the Iraqi troops and Kuwaiti freedom fighters, the Al-Massilah group. After the liberation, the Al-Qurain house was declared to be a museum by the then Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in honor of the twelve men out of nineteen, who were killed in the gruesome 10-hour battle and as a symbol of Kuwaiti resistance.

Al-Qurain Martyrs Museum is a building smeared with bullet holes and gaping cavities from cannon firing. Across the street in front of the building, stands the Iraqi tank that was cast off by the Iraqi troops. Besides, a truck that carried the group of resistance members from Kuwait city to Al-Qurain; 2 Chevrolets that belonged to the owner of the house and the group leader (both of them who were martyrs), a white Chevrolet that belonged to the Iraqi intelligence; and a minibus used by the Iraqi forces to transfer prisoners from Iraq to Kuwait can be found within the premises. Within the war-torn relic are plaques that list the heroes and pointer to spot where they were killed, captured or hid. Weapons and cannon shells handled on a ghastly day are preserved here along with memos that were circulated among the Iraqi forces to burn all kinds of objects that represent the State of Kuwait and to annihilate any possible demonstrations and houses with weapons, etc.
