Sief Palace
The Seif Palace was originally designated for the Emir royals. The Emir household however never lived in the Seif Palace and instead the palace served as a court for celebrations. Built by Sheikh Mubarak, this palace is considered to be an integral part of Kuwait city and its progress. Located opposite the Grand Mosque, one of Seif Palace’s best-known features is the watch tower, covered in blue tiles and with a roof plated in pure gold. Local materials such as clay, rocks, limestone, wood and metals were used in its construction.
The L-shaped Sief Palace that faces the roundabout is the original structure, dating from the early 20th century, while the new and ponderously opulent palace, complete with lake, helipad and dock for visitors’ yachts, was completed around the beginning of 2000. The palace is not open to the public, but it’s a notable landmark.
