Telegraph Museum Porthcurno

Our communications museum was once the largest telegraph station in the world. The beautiful beach at Porthcurno has been the location of a communications revolution since 1870. With sub-tropical gardens, underground WW2 tunnels and extensive exhibitions to captivate enquiring minds. The Telegraph Museum Porthcurno is a museum located in the small coastal village of Porthcurno Cornwall, UK. Porthcurno was the point at which many submarine telegraph cables—transatlantic and to other locations—came ashore. The first cables were direct current impulse transmitters. The first cables with transistor amplifiers were laid in the 1950s.
