National Theatre of Japan

The New NationalTheatre, Tokyo (NNTT) is Japan’s first and foremost national theatre for the performing arts of opera, ballet, dance and drama. Since the doors of our world-class, state-of-the-art theatre opened in 1997, we have staged an incredible array of productions, totaling more than 650.

The National Theatre of Japan is a complex consisting of three halls in two buildings in Hayabusachō, a district in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan. The Japan Arts Council, an Independent Administrative Institution of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, operates the National Theatre. It primarily stages performances of traditional Japanese performing arts. This facility mainly stages traditional Japanese performance arts like kabuki and bunraku, a type of puppet theater. Tickets can be bought online through their website.
