Royal Gibraltar Regiment

A Regiment of the British Army, defending Gibraltar since 1939, in all major theatres since 1969. Part of the Queen’s Division of Infantry. The Royal Gibraltar Regiment is part of British Forces Gibraltar for the British overseas territory of Gibraltar, which historically, along with Bermuda, Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Malta, had been designated an Imperial fortress rather than a colony. It was formed in 1958 from the Gibraltar Defence Force as an infantry unit, with an integrated artillery troop. The regiment is included in the British Army as a defence engagement force.

The Royal Gibraltar Regiment stands as a proud symbol of resilience, service, and identity at the crossroads of continents and history. Rooted in the unique character of Gibraltar and shaped by centuries of strategic importance, the regiment embodies the unwavering spirit of a people who have always understood the value of duty, vigilance, and unity.

Morezura is more than a motto; it is a promise lived every day by the men and women who serve. As Gibraltar’s own infantry regiment within the British Army, the Royal Gibraltar Regiment blends deep local heritage with world-class military professionalism, standing ready to defend, support, and represent its homeland wherever duty calls. From ceremonial excellence on the Rock to operational deployments abroad, its soldiers carry themselves with pride, discipline, and quiet confidence.

What truly sets the regiment apart is its people. Drawn from the community it protects, the Royal Gibraltar Regiment reflects Gibraltar itself: diverse, determined, and outward-looking. Service here is not just a career, but a calling, often passed through generations, strengthening the bond between regiment, family, and nation.

In an ever-changing world, the Royal Gibraltar Regiment continues to evolve while remaining anchored to its core values of courage, loyalty, and service. It stands as a living reminder that even a small force, when united by purpose and pride, can have an impact far greater than its size, inspiring confidence at home and earning respect on the global stage.

Devils Tower Camp

Devil’s Tower Camp is a military installation located just southeast of Gibraltar International Airport on the isthmus between Spain and Gibraltar. The site dates back to 1713 when Spain ceded land to the United Kingdom under the Treaty of Utrecht.  The camp was established in 1942 as an RAF barracks to support RAF Gibraltar during the Second World War and was located conveniently close to the airfield.
