Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge offers many opportunities to enjoy wildlife-dependent activities, including wildlife watching, hiking, hunting, fishing, wildlife photography and more. The refuge’s nature trails and the auto tour loop are accessible all year. Check out the visitor activities section of our website for more information. Camping is not allowed on any part of the refuge.

The fascinating Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge  in southern Socorro County, is administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. It lies in the Albuquerque Basin, near the Rio Grande astride New Mexico Route 1, formerly U.S. Highway 85. The refuge was founded in 1939.
