Levens Hall & Gardens
Levens Hall is the home of the Bagot family and displays one of the largest and oldest topiary gardens in the world. It is probably the finest Elizabethan house in Cumbria and contains oak panelling, leather wall coverings, plasterwork, a collection of Jacobean furniture, fine paintings, the earliest English patchwork and many other beautiful objects. Visitors may wander through the House at their leisure. The award-winning Gardens were laid out from 1694 by Monsieur Guillaume Beaumont and are largely unchanged today.
Topiary, beech hedges and seasonal bedding provide a stunning visual impact. The Potting Shed Gift Shop has a lovely selection of unusual and imaginative gifts and books, many of which relate directly to the Hall and the world famous gardens. Free parking and free entry to the Tea Room, Gift Shop and Plant Centre. New for 2019 will be the Levens Kitchen serving a fine selection of hot and cold dishes, puddings and snacks.
