Winterbourne House and Garden

Just a 15 minute walk from University Station 7 acres of tranquil botanic gardens lie in the grounds of an Edwardian historic house. Winterbourne House and Garden is a hidden refuge at the heart of one of the country’s most bustling cities.

Winterbourne was commissioned in 1903 by John Sutton Nettlefold for his young family, employing the Arts and Craft style in its design both inside and out. The home has now been transformed by interactive displays and hands-on learning exhibits for all ages. Blooming with over 6000 different plant species, Winterbourne is a tantalising tapestry of colour, texture and scents throughout the seasons. It is also home to several 19th Century printing presses which are now used for workshops and demonstrations, as well as a gallery, community reading room and gift shop.
