Tillya Kori Madresah is stunning for its combination of beauties. The exterior has such beautiful tile work face, minarets, and entry portal. TKM also has a peaceful courtyard with more tile work on the interior walls, and the usual souvenir packed student cells to browse.
The highlight of TKM is the breathtaking golden light that bathes the rear room mosque, reflecting from its golden walls and ceiling. The dome appears to curve up high overhead but is actually only slightly curved on the lower edges and the remainder is flat, an amazing masterpiece of optical illusion. Despite having seen and photographed it, I still find it hard to believe.
If you can tear yourself away, go to the right and visit the Museum of theHhistory of Restoration of the Registan. There are interesting historical photos showing the decay of time, samples of tiles recovered and re-mastered, and archeological artifacts such as recovered ceramic dishes and bowls.
