Khndzoresk Cave Village, Khndzoresk, Armenia
Khndzoresk cave village is one of beautiful places in Armenia which is associated with a lot of secrets and mysteries.Perhaps this explains the popularity of this village among tourists. The name “Khndzoresk” is translated from Armenian as “apple”. There are many ancient caves throughout the territory of Khndzoresk. At the beginning of the 20th century there were approximately eight thousand people who in 1950s were moved to a new village with the same name by decision of the Soviet authorities.
Deserted cave city is enveloped in mysticism. In addition to countless caves the village is also famous for architectural monuments such as St. Hripsime Church, St. Tadevos Church, as well as a suspension bridge connecting the two sides of the gorge, a walk through which will give many unforgettable impressions.
