The site of the museum in the historic Shaab Palace in central Tripoli was chosen with its large gardens and unique designs to add more appeal to the exhibits.
The People’s Palace built an Italian architect from Milan, Saul Maravilia Mantigaza, between 1924 and 1939. The aim of its construction was to be the seat of the Italian ruler in Libya. The authorities now hope that the history of the place will attract visitors of different interests.
History lovers find an opportunity to see artifacts from prehistoric and Phoenician and Greek civilizations to the ruins of the Roman Empire.
