Gordons Bay Beach, South Africa
Beautiful Gordon’s Bay; a harbor town surrounded by the Helderberg Mountains and a neighbor to Strand, is charming, pretty, and home to some excellent beaches. While it is best known for Bikini Beach, which enjoys a coveted Blue Flag status, it also boasts the Gordon’s Bay Main Beach, which has plenty going for it.
The Main Beach has a number of shallow swimming spots, which are fantastic for families with little ones that aren’t quite ready to brave the waves. And, even then, the waves are relatively small, thanks to the reefs and the surrounding mountains, which protect the bay. The white sands are warm and inviting for sun-tanning or beach games, and there is also a brick walkway that is perfect for lazy strolls, energetic runs, or exploring the area. The walkway leads all the way to Bikini Beach, so visitors can get the best of both.
The reef here means that the Main Beach in Gordon’s Bay is a great spot from which to go snorkelling or, for those that are qualified, SCUBA diving.
