Dias Beach, Cape of Good Hope, South Africa
Popular with both locals and repeat visitors to Cape Town, Diaz Beach at Cape Point is a secluded, magnificent and rather romantic beach. You will need to be relatively fit in order to get there as the walk takes at least 20 minutes to get down to the beach and about double that to get back up, however the effort is well worth it. Get there early enough so you can enjoy the beach for the entire day.
While you stand on the beach looking out into the sea reflect on the early explorers who sailed the seas around this Cape of Storms and imagine what it must have felt like sailing past the beauty of this area which is contrasted so well by the dark jagged rocks and sandy white beach.
This is one beach that it’s not recommended to swim in as the strong currents can carry swimmers out to sea, so it’s best just to get ankle deep in the water. In saying that it is a great spot for surfers and body boarders.
