Laomei Green Reef, Shimen District, Taipei City, Taiwan
Laomei Green Reef is located on the North Coast near the Laomei Community in Shimen District. Every April and May after the northeast monsoons die down, algae covers the neat rows of stone troughs here with a vibrant green, creating a rare and spectacular sight. As the weather warms, the seaweed gradually disappears with exposure to the sun. The algae-covered rocks are extremely slippery and dangerous. Visitors are reminded to not to walk on them.
