Marmara Ereğlisi is a town of Tekirdağ. 90 km to Istanbul and 38 km to Tekirdağ. from Perinthos , the former name of the ancient Byzantine dating . The city was founded around 600 BC. The district of a peninsula is 32 km. Having a coastline in its length. There are two important natural harbors and 3 piers that are of great importance for a comprehensive trade, an improved economy. Ottoman Turks told Ereğli to Heraklia and they started to say Ereğlisi of Marmara not to interfere with others.

Cedit Ali Pashaescaped from the storm and made a mosque to Ereğli and announced that this place will be convenient for those who will come and settle in this place. Thus the first Ereğli people began to form. He lived in peace until 1876 in the Ottoman period. It has continued to be a major port and the arrival of sea vehicles. Between 1920 and 1922, he was in Greek occupation for about 2 years.Until 1987 as a subdistrict from Çorlu was separated from the district.
