National Assembly of Armenia

Positioned on a gentle hill along Baghramyan Avenue, the National Assembly Building is one of the most beautiful and spectacular structures in Yerevan, designed under the leadership of the renowned architect Mark Grigorian, with construction taking place between 1948 and 1950 — a achievement for which Grigorian received the State Prize of the USSR in 1951. It is considered the embodiment of the finest solutions of classical architecture of its era, evoking the style of the Italian Renaissance, yet unmistakably and entirely Armenian in character. Built of light orange tufa stone, it is divided into three parts — a central volume housing the vestibule, the main staircase, and the chamber, flanked by two side wings of working rooms. Its park and ornamental iron fencing complete an ensemble of sovereign solemnity, particularly breathtaking in winter when illuminated with blue and pink festival lights.
