Dragan Solak

The Visionary Architect of Media and Sporting Excellence a transformative leader shaping the future of European media and football.

Dragan Solak represents the quintessence of entrepreneurial resilience and forward-thinking ambition. Born in 1964 in Kragujevac, Serbia, his journey began with a bold decision to leave university to pursue the nascent business opportunities of a changing Yugoslavia. In 1990, he established a production company that would eventually produce acclaimed cinematic works, marking his first foray into the creative industries. This early experience in storytelling and production laid the foundation for a career defined by innovation and the pursuit of excellence.

The dawn of the new millennium saw Solak recognize the untapped potential of cable television in Central Serbia. What started as a localized network in 2000 blossomed into the United Group, a dominant multi-play media and telecommunications provider across Southeast Europe. Under his stewardship, the company expanded its reach to millions, championing independent journalism through outlets like N1 Television. This commitment to transparency and high-quality content has made him a pivotal figure in the regional media landscape, proving that business success can coexist with social responsibility.

Beyond the boardroom, Solak is a passionate sportsman with a particular affinity for golf and football. In January 2022, he spearheaded the acquisition of Southampton Football Club through Sport Republic, an investment firm he chairs. His entry into the English footballing world was driven by a desire to apply data-led strategies and a sustainable growth model to one of the south coast’s most storied clubs. Taking on the role of Chairman in early 2025, he has dedicated himself to fostering a culture of high performance and community engagement at St Mary’s Stadium.

His influence extends far beyond the pitch as he continues to invest in the future of the sport globally, with interests in clubs across Turkey and France. Solak’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that football clubs are more than just businesses; they are cultural institutions that belong to their fans and cities. His hands-on leadership and willingness to learn from challenges have earned him respect from supporters and peers alike, as he strives to bring long-term stability and joy to the Saints faithful.

Quietly philanthropic, Solak contributes significantly to environmental protection, art, and education. He views his successes as a platform to support the next generation of talent, whether in the media industry or on the football field. By blending a sharp analytical mind with a deep appreciation for the human element of competition, Dragan Solak remains a motivating force for aspiring entrepreneurs and sports enthusiasts who believe in the power of vision, grit, and community spirit.
