HRH Prince William’s Earthshot Prize Awards to be held in Mumbai India
HRH The Prince of Wales founded The Earthshot Prize with bold determination and an unshakeable belief that this decisive decade must deliver transformative environmental action. Guided by vision, optimism and a profound sense of global responsibility, he created the Prize to spotlight the innovators, entrepreneurs and communities whose breakthrough solutions can repair and regenerate our planet. Rooted in the conviction that urgent challenges can inspire extraordinary ingenuity, The Earthshot Prize channels hope into measurable impact — accelerating ideas that restore nature, protect oceans, clean our air, reduce waste and stabilise the climate.
This November, that inspiring mission comes vividly to life in Mumbai, a city defined by resilience, enterprise and unstoppable momentum. Mumbai becomes the sixth international host city since the Prize’s founding, following a journey that began with the inaugural Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony in London, where a bold new era of environmental optimism was first set in motion. From London to global stages across Europe, North America and Asia, each ceremony has amplified the Prize’s message that solutions know no borders and that innovation thrives through collaboration.
A special Awards Night
Taking place in Mumbai, our sixth annual Awards Night will celebrate India’s leadership, stewardship and culture and culminate in five Earthshot Finalists each winning £1 million to accelerate the impact of their innovative solutions.
A week of climate action
Like previous years, our multi-day Earthshot Prize Summit will bring together environmental and business leaders, investors and philanthropists to drive forward bold solutions to repair our planet.
India is home to seven Earthshot Finalists
India has a proud record of environmental solutions, and is home to seven Earthshot Prize Finalists, including four Winners – more than any other country.
The State of Gujarat
2025 Clean our Air Finalist, The State of Gujarat, has pioneered the world’s first trading scheme for particulate emissions, that lets businesses keep growing while providing clean, healthier air for its citizens.
S4S Technologies
2024 Build a Waste-free World Winner, S4S Technologies’ solar-powered dryers and processing equipment combat food waste – enabling smallholder farmers to preserve crops and turn produce that might otherwise go to waste into valuable products.
Boomitra
With multiple projects in India, 2023 Fix our Climate Winner, Boomitra is removing emissions and boosting farmer profits by incentivising soil restoration and the adoption of regenerative agriculture through a verified carbon-credit marketplace.
Earthshot Prize
Since its launch in 2020, The Earthshot Prize has already delivered tangible impact. Winners and finalists have scaled pioneering coral reef restoration projects, advanced breakthrough clean hydrogen technologies, transformed waste systems through community-led innovation, and attracted significant international investment to expand their reach. Alumni have secured millions in funding, forged cross-continental partnerships and influenced policy conversations at the highest levels. What began as a visionary idea has rapidly evolved into a global movement — turning optimism into action and proving that when bold ideas are backed with belief and support, they can reshape the future of our planet. This year HRH The Prince of Wales calls for ‘urgency and optimism’ to deal with the climate crisis.
HRH Prince William, Founder and President of The Earthshot Prize:
“We must continue to look to the future with urgency and optimism, which is why I am delighted that Mumbai will host The Earthshot Prize 2026. India is one of the world’s most important forces for climate and nature. What succeeds in India at scale has the power to inspire progress everywhere. With the largest population of young people in the world, there is a real sense of momentum — to not only imagine a better future, but to inspire change and make it a reality. Together we can rise to meet our greatest challenge, to repair and restore our planet by 2030.”Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra:
“The Earthshot Prize is the world’s most prestigious environmental award and I’m proud to announce that it will be hosted in Mumbai in November. Sustainability and climate action remain top priorities for Maharashtra, and The Earthshot Prize will create global attention for India’s leadership and commitment to turning our goals into meaningful action on the ground.”
