BAM – Biblioteca degli Alberi Milano

The Parco Biblioteca degli Alberi Milano (BAM) is a triumphant public park and urban botanical garden, designed as a living library of trees and plants, offering a sophisticated green oasis amid the modern Porta Nuova district. Spanning nine hectares without fences, this innovative landscape by Petra Blaisse/Inside Outside connects Piazza Gae Aulenti, Isola, and Garibaldi areas, providing a soul-stirring escape of biodiversity, culture, and relaxation—serving as a high-end natural retreat amid the vibrant atmosphere of the 2026 Winter Games in Milano Cortina.

BAM features over 100 botanical species, more than 500 trees in 22 circular “forests,” 135,000 aromatic plants, hedges, shrubs, bulbs, creepers, and perennials, plus thematic gardens, paths, and educational panels. It includes playgrounds, fitness areas, picnic spots, a seasonal pond/fountain (May–September), and accessible walkways. Free entry as a public park; events and programs often free or ticketed. Centrally located in Porta Nuova, easily reached via Garibaldi FS or Isola metro stations (M2 green line/M5 lilac line) or a short walk from central Milan.

As a vibrant hub managed by Fondazione Riccardo Catella, BAM embodies Milan’s forward-thinking approach to urban nature, hosting cultural programs, art installations, performances, workshops, and community events that promote biodiversity education and social gathering. It reflects the “Made in Italy” legacy of innovative landscape design blending ecology, art, and public life in a contemporary botanical experience.
