Parque Brig. Eduardo Gomes (Aterro do Flamengo)

Parque Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes, more commonly known as Flamengo Park, is one of Rio de Janeiro’s most important and iconic leisure spaces. Built on a landfill area in Guanabara Bay, this vast urban park was designed by the famous landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx in the 1960s. Flamengo Park is a true masterpiece of landscape design, combining lush vegetation with wide-open spaces, bike paths, and running trails, creating a perfect environment for physical activities and social gatherings.

In addition to being a green lung of the city, Flamengo Park is a vital cultural and recreational center. The park is home to beaches like Praia do Flamengo, sports courts, restaurants, and important cultural landmarks like the Monument to the Dead of World War II. It is a place where architecture, nature, and history meet, providing locals and visitors with an incredible place to enjoy a day outdoors, relax with family, or simply appreciate the stunning view of Sugarloaf Mountain and Guanabara Bay.
