Terminal Rodoviário Novo Rio – Rodoviária do Rio
It is the city’s largest and most important long-distance bus terminal, serving as the primary point of arrival and departure for buses traveling to and from other cities and states throughout Brazil, as well as to neighboring countries like Argentina and Paraguay. The station is located in the Santo Cristo neighborhood, very close to the city center and the port area, which was revitalized for the 2016 Olympics.
It’s a massive, multi-level station that is a constant hive of activity, with dozens of bus companies and routes running at all hours. While it is a bustling and busy terminal, it’s also well-equipped with amenities like restaurants, shops, and ticketing counters to make travel as smooth as possible for the thousands of passengers who pass through it every day.
