Central do Brasil / Centro

It’s a massive and historic transportation hub located in the city center, and its iconic Art Deco tower with a large clock is a famous landmark. The station is more than just a train station; it’s a major hub that also connects with the city’s subway system and bus terminals, making it a bustling center of daily life for countless commuters.

Interestingly, the station was also the setting for the Oscar-nominated Brazilian film, “Central Station,” which brought its name and a heartwarming story to a global audience. While it primarily serves suburban commuter lines today, its history as the terminus for long-distance routes that once connected Rio to São Paulo and Minas Gerais makes it a true symbol of Brazil’s railroad history.
