Superintendência Regional da Polícia Federal no Rio de Janeiro

This is Brazil’s national police force, and their main headquarters is in Brasília. They have a regional office in Rio, located on Avenida Rodrigues Alves in the Port Zone. The Superintendência Regional da Polícia Federal no Rio de Janeiro oversees federal law enforcement operations across the state, ensuring public safety and combating crimes like drug trafficking and corruption. Led by Superintendent Fábio Galvão da Silva Rêgo, appointed in February 2025, it coordinates critical investigations, including high-profile cases like the Marielle Franco murder. Its headquarters at Av. Rodrigues Alves, 1, Saúde, Rio de Janeiro, serves as a hub for regional operations.

The agency operates multiple service points, including passport issuance posts at locations like Via Parque Shopping and Aeroporto Internacional Tom Jobim, with specific hours for public services. It also manages specialized units like the Núcleo de Segurança de Dignitários, providing security for dignitaries and foreign officials. For complaints or crime reports, the public can use the “COMUNICA PF” platform or visit local offices.

Recent activities highlight its role in tackling organized crime, with operations seizing over 1.5 tons of cocaine destined for Europe and Africa.  The Superintendência collaborates with federal courts, as seen in a 2024 agreement for centralized electronic communication in criminal cases. It remains a cornerstone of federal policing, addressing both local and international security challenges.
