Emirates Stadium

The Emirates Stadium is the state-of-the-art home of Arsenal Football Club, representing a bold leap into the modern era of football. Opened in 2006, the stadium was built to replace the club’s beloved but financially limiting Highbury ground. The move was a strategic decision to enable Arsenal to compete with the wealthiest clubs in Europe by significantly increasing their matchday revenue. The stadium was constructed on a former industrial estate known as Ashburton Grove, just a short walk from its historic predecessor, ensuring the club remained firmly rooted in its North London community. With a capacity of just over 60,000, it is now one of the largest stadiums in the Premier League.

A true fan’s stadium, the Emirates is rich with features that honor Arsenal’s storied past. In a powerful gesture, the iconic clock from the South Stand at Highbury was moved to the outside of the new stadium, with that section of the ground officially being named the Clock End in its honor. The stadium has undergone an “Arsenalisation” project over the years, a concerted effort to deepen the sense of identity and history within its walls. This has included the installation of magnificent murals, banners celebrating the club’s triumphs, and statues of legendary figures like Thierry Henry, Tony Adams, Dennis Bergkamp, and Herbert Chapman, ensuring that the legacy of those who built the club’s success is never forgotten.

Beyond its role as a football ground, the Emirates Stadium is a world-class facility designed to provide an exceptional experience for all visitors. The stadium’s architecture features a distinctive bowl-shaped design that ensures excellent, unobstructed views for every spectator, with a translucent roof that enhances the acoustics and helps to create a thunderous atmosphere on matchdays. The facilities are top-notch, including luxurious Club Level hospitality suites, executive boxes, and a wide array of food and drink options. For those visiting on non-match days, the stadium offers comprehensive tours that take fans behind the scenes to the players’ tunnel, dressing rooms, and manager’s dugout. Additionally, the Arsenal Museum, located within the stadium complex, houses a stunning collection of historical memorabilia, from medals and trophies to legendary players’ shirts and boots, making it a pilgrimage for any true Gunner.
