Verdant reservoir vistas merging history, engineering, and wild tranquility. The Derwent Dam Viewpoint in the Upper Derwent Valley offers a dramatic panorama over Derwent and Ladybower reservoirs, with the iconic dam towers standing as silent witnesses to the “Dambusters” training in World War II. It’s easily reached via a short stroll from the Fairholmes Visitor Centre, with accessible tarmac paths leading right to the dam’s base and interpretive panels.
Operated by Severn Trent in cooperation with the Peak District National Park Authority, the Fairholmes Visitor Centre provides essential amenities including toilets, baby‑change facilities, a refreshment kiosk, picnic benches and cycle hire. Public parking is available (pay & display), including six disabled bays, and a layby nearby for overflow.
