The City Art Centre, located at 2 Market Street in Edinburgh, is a prominent venue dedicated to showcasing both historic and contemporary Scottish visual arts and crafts. Since its establishment in 1980, the Centre has become one of the UK’s leading temporary exhibition spaces, housing a nationally recognized collection of Scottish art. The building itself, constructed between 1899 and 1902 as part of the Scotsman newspaper complex, was converted into a gallery in 1980 and features six exhibition galleries spread across its nine-storey structure.
