Since its establishment in 1980, the Centre has become one of the UK’s leading temporary exhibition spaces, housing a nationally recognized collection of Scottish art. The building itself, constructed between 1899 and 1902 as part of the Scotsman newspaper complex, was converted into a gallery in 1980 and features six exhibition galleries spread across its nine-storey structure.
