Historical Plaques – Alexandra Bridge

The Alexandra Bridge, officially known as the Royal Alexandra Interprovincial Bridge, is adorned with historical plaques that honor its significant role in Canadian engineering and transportation history. These plaques are strategically placed to inform visitors about the bridge’s construction and its importance.

One prominent plaque is mounted on the west railing of the bridge, near the southwest corner of the pedestrian deck. This plaque provides details about the bridge’s design and construction, highlighting its steel cantilever truss structure with clear spans of 320 meters and a total length between abutments of 818 meters. It also notes the involvement of key figures such as H. J. Beemer, President of the Interprovincial Bridge Company, and G. C. Dunn, Chief Engineer
