Nahia statue in San Mamés: Inspiring young dreams of football equality. The “Nahia” statue, unveiled in March 2024, stands proudly in front of San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao. This life-sized bronze sculpture depicts a young girl with a football at her feet, gazing up at the stadium with hope and determination. It was installed as part of the “Hay Mucho en Juego” campaign, aiming to promote gender equality and visibility in women’s football, coinciding with the UEFA Women’s Champions League final held at San Mamés.
The statue is located at the corner of Licenciado Poza and Luis Briñas streets, adjacent to the José Ángel Iribar statue. It is accessible to the public at all times and serves as a symbol of inspiration for young girls aspiring to play football.
