Bilbao’s Gothic Jewel and Pilgrimage Landmark. A Gothic-style cathedral dating back to the 14th century, located in the heart of Casco Viejo. Bilboko Donejakue Katedrala, also known as the Cathedral of Santiago, stands as a testament to Bilbao’s rich history and architectural prowess. Constructed between the late 14th and early 15th centuries in the Gothic style, the cathedral features a neogothic façade and tower added in the 19th century. Dedicated to St. James the Apostle, it has been the city’s patron saint since 1643 and serves as a significant stop on the Northern Way of the Camino de Santiago.
