Friaren, Geiranger, More og Romsdal, Norway

Friaren (The Friar) is a lone waterfall sitting across from the famed Seven Sisters (De Sju Søstre) on the Geiranger Fjord (Geirangerfjorden). According to the story perpetrated by the tourist boat cruise, legend has it that the Friar is trying to woo the sisters across the fjord. And that is why he is positioned where he is as he tries to make his move. With supposedly seven sisters to his lone self, I guess he liked his chances…

While this waterfall doesn’t have as many columns as the sisters across the way nor does it possess their height, it does have lots of volume. In fact, when our cruise ship passed before this waterfall, we could easily feel the spray drifting to the boat.
