Omsk Drama Theater, Omskaya Oblast, Russia
The budgetary cultural institution Omsk State Academic Drama Theater is the oldest theater in the city of Omsk, founded in 1874 with money collected by the Omsk society by subscription. The building of the theater, which is a monument of history and architecture, was built in 1905 with funds allocated by the City Duma.
The author of the project is the architect Illyodor Khvorinov. Since 1983 the theater has been called “academic”. Omsk Drama was twice awarded the State Prize of the Russian Federation named after K.S. Stanislavsky: in 1973 – for the performance “Soldier’s Widow” N. Ankilov, in 1985 – for the play “The war is not a woman’s face” S. Aleksievich.
Omsk Academic Drama Theater is a laureate of six National Theater Awards “Golden Mask”.
In 2011, the theater received the Government Prize
The Russian Federation named after Fedor Volkov for his contribution to the development of theatrical art.
The theater constantly participates in international and Russian festivals, tours around the country and abroad.
