
Amir Maimon is the current Israeli Ambassador to Australia, having assumed the role in August 2022. He is a seasoned diplomat with an extensive career in Israel’s foreign service. Prior to his appointment in Australia, Maimon held significant diplomatic roles, including serving as Israel’s Ambassador to Lithuania from 2015 to 2019. His career has been marked by his efforts to enhance bilateral relations between Israel and the countries he represents, focusing on diplomacy, security, and economic cooperation.
Maimon has also been involved in various roles related to national security and has represented Israel in multiple international forums. His tenure in Australia aligns with the 75th anniversary of Israel’s diplomatic relations with Australia, allowing him to deepen these ties through political, cultural, and economic initiatives.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Israel formulates, implements and presents foreign policy of the Israeli government. The Embassy in turn works to present those policies to the Australian government. Thereby the Embassy acts as a liaison to strengthen the ties between the two governments.
