Medvezhiegorsk District Museum, Medvezhyegorsk, Kareliya Republits, Russia
Medvezhiegorsk District Museum was founded in 1962 and existed on the rights of the school museum. Then there was a transfer of the institution to the branch of the republican museum “Kizhi” and later to the structure of the Karelian State Museum of Local Lore.
Since 1991 the museum has the status of municipal. To date, the institution has passed state registration and received the status of a legal entity – the Municipal Public Institution “Medvezhyegorsk District Museum”. The founder of the organization is the Administration of local government of Medvezhyegorsk district.
The museum is located in the historical building of the former hotel Belbaltkombinata, which was built in 1935, is an architectural monument of federal significance and is protected by the state.
