Landtagsbrunnen

The “Landtagsbrunnen” (State Parliament Fountain) is a prominent landmark located in front of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Parliament building in Düsseldorf, Germany. This fountain serves both as a decorative element and as a symbolic representation of the state’s legislative authority.

The fountain was designed by the German sculptor Joachim Schmettau and was inaugurated in 1988. Its design features several elements that hold significance in representing the state and its democratic principles. At the center of the fountain, there is a bronze sculpture of a woman holding a laurel wreath, symbolizing victory, honor, and achievement. Surrounding her are sculptures of dolphins, which represent agility, unity, and freedom.

The Landtagsbrunnen serves as a gathering place and a focal point for public events and demonstrations. It also adds to the aesthetic appeal of the area surrounding the State Parliament building, contributing to the city’s cultural and architectural landscape.
