The rock garden at Fort VI has something of an old fairytale forest about it. The tall trees make it quite dark, almost enchanted. You wouldn’t be surprised if trolls or fairies emerged from the bushes.
Like the boulders, the landscape formation here also seems very untypical for Cologne. Garden director Fritz Encke, under whose aegis the complex was started in 1923, based it on the ground plan of the former Prussian fort.
