Fort la Latte, Plévenon, Brittany, France

Imagine a fort on the top of a cliff, perched above sea and moorland, protected by two fissures in the rock which can only be crossed by drawbridge – now that’s what you’d call an unassailable location. Fort La Latte’s remarkable setting on a rocky headland, has led the monument to be used as a location for a number of films. Tony Curtis and Kirk Douglas battled it out with one another in the film ‘The Vikings’, while Sophie Marceau and Lambert Wilson talked to one another on the walkway along the castle walls in ‘Les Chouans’.

Walk along the battlements and discover a stunning panorama of the entire Emerald Coast which takes in: the Anse des Sévignés, Cap Fréhel, the Bay of La Fresnaye, the Pointe de Saint-Cast, the Isle of Ebihens, Saint-Briac and Saint-Lunaire, the Pointe du Décollé , Saint-Malo, Paramé and Rothéneuf, the Isle of Cézembre and the Pointe du Meinga.
